1. Do you treat ...?
Yes. Naturopathic doctors (NDs) are licensed doctors. In short,
you can go to Dr. Brody for everything from the flu to chronic
pain to menopause. Just like an allopathic doctor, NDs refer
for lab tests or x-rays, prescribe medications, and can refer
to a specialist when necessary. In addition, naturopathic
physicians can treat many conditions that may not respond
well to allopathic medicine such as colds, migraines, irritable
bowel syndrome, and chronic fatigue syndrome. More

2. Can you prescribe antibiotics or other prescription
medicine?
Naturopathic physicians (NDs) may prescribe any naturally
derived medicine (antibiotics, hormone replacement therapy,
etc.) for the treatment of symptoms. In the rare cases where
Dr. Brody wishes to recommend medication that is not naturally
derived, she can refer you to an MD. NDs may also suggest
nutritional supplements and herbs to treat diseases, as well
as for overall health and preventive medicine.More

3. What if I already have a “regular”
doctor?
Dr. Brody is happy to work with you and your allopathic doctor
to create a treatment plan that serves you comfortably and
effectively. For certain chronic conditions such as advanced
diabetes, heart disease and cancer, Naturopathic care successfully
supports and enhances allopathic medicine.
4. Do you take insurance?
We do accept insurance. In Oregon, many insurance companies
provide policies that cover naturopathic services, but not
all insured patients hold such policies. If your insurance
does cover our services, our office staff is happy to submit
your claim directly. If you are part of an HMO plan that covers
Naturopathy or Acupuncture, please consult your preferred
provider list to see if Dr. Brody participates in your plan.
Please let us know if you would like us to refer you to someone
who can assess your insurance needs and suggest a plan that
covers naturopathy and acupuncture.
5. Do I have to give up all the foods I love?
Not necessarily. Your treatment will depend on your problem
and your symptoms. No single diet is right for everyone. Specific
conditions, such as diabetes or chronic fatigue, may require
more drastic changes. Patients work with Dr. Brody to find
what foods are right for them. More

6. Do you treat kids?
Dr. Brody is a family practitioner. She does everything from
pediatrics to geriatrics. Call if you have a question about
a specific condition.
7. Can you help with Hormone Replacement Therapy?
Yes, Dr. Brody has a special interest in women’s
health. Many women are searching for alternatives to conventional
hormone replacement therapy (HRT). Many options exist for
managing the complications of menopause or peri-menopause
through noninvasive, natural therapies for symptoms.
8. What do think of specialty diets (e.g., Atkins,
Zone, Vegetarian)?
Again, no single diet is right for everyone. Patients work
with Dr. Brody to find what foods are right for them. Some
foods may impact your health while others may have little
effect. Specific conditions may require a change in diet to
help you feel better. If you are on a special diet and wish
to continue with it, Dr. Brody can guide you to healthy eating
within your dietary preferences. More
