1. Does it hurt?

When the needle is inserted, the patient may feel nothing or a sensation akin to a minor insect bite. Any pain usually subsides within a few seconds after insertion. 2. Does it work?

3. How long does it take?

Individual sessions last about 45 minutes. The number of visits depends on your condition. Patients typically start with weekly or twice weekly sessions for 8-12 weeks, or until symptoms are stable. Gradually, patients will reduce the frequency of their visits, with the ultimate goal of no longer needing acupuncture or just coming in for occasional tune-ups.

4. Where do you put the needles?

5. How big are the needles?

The needles are very, very small. They are about the thickness of a few human hairs. The length of the needle and how far it is inserted will vary depending on the point chosen by the doctor.

6. Does acupuncture treat “X”?
